A Myanmar national who fell from the Batu Lanchang flyover in Penang had been arrested previously, according to Timur Laut police. The man was suspected of house trespassing and lacked valid travel documentation.

Police in Kelantan have arrested eight individuals in connection with suspected migrant smuggling operations. The group includes a Malaysian national allegedly transporting seven undocumented Myanmar nationals in a vehicle during an early morning operation.

Malaysia has instructed the UNHCR to pause all refugee registrations while the government restructures its management system through a new Refugee Registration Document programme, Deputy Foreign Minister Lukanisman Awang Sauni announced in parliament.
