Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called for the country's development agenda to reach all segments of society, particularly grassroots communities. Speaking at a gathering with the fishing and farming communities in Muar on June 15, Anwar emphasised that prosperity should extend beyond major infrastructure projects and technological advancement to encompass smallholders, rice farmers and fishermen.
The Premier stressed that inclusive growth requires government leaders to actively engage with communities to understand their needs and concerns. He underlined the importance of amplifying the voices of those at the lower economic tiers to prevent any group from being excluded from national modernisation efforts.
While acknowledging the significance of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and digital transformation for long-term growth, Anwar reiterated that the MADANI Government prioritises improving the livelihoods and earnings of rural populations. He highlighted the government's commitment to deploying social safety nets and targeted assistance programmes through relevant agencies to ensure effective delivery.
Anwar directed Cabinet members and political leaders to venture into communities and listen directly to people's concerns. This ground-level engagement, he argued, enables more effective problem-solving and demonstrates genuine leadership that advocates for the disadvantaged.
The Prime Minister's remarks underscore the administration's intent to balance high-tech development with tangible improvements for ordinary Malaysians, ensuring that modernisation benefits are distributed across all communities rather than concentrated among select sectors.
