Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim oversaw the groundbreaking ceremony for the permanent housing development at Bukit Kiara Longhouse here today, marking a significant milestone for residents who have sought resolution for more than 40 years.

Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan, who is also the Sungai Buloh Member of Parliament, characterised the resolution as evidence of the administration's willingness to address longstanding community grievances without deferring solutions to future generations. Each qualified household will receive two new housing units at no cost through the permanent housing initiative.

The Prime Minister's office will contribute an extra RM1 million to Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) over three years for area maintenance, a development that Ramanan warmly endorsed. "The decision finalised by the Prime Minister is a clear signal that the government will not delay justice for the people," Ramanan stated via Facebook.

Ramanan acknowledged that while the project's scope may appear limited in scale, its transformative effect on residents who have endured prolonged waiting periods is substantial. The resolution achieves a balanced outcome by delivering improved housing conditions while preserving Taman Rimba Kiara's ecological integrity against earlier development proposals.

The longhouse residents' longstanding plight took a decisive turn following legal action initiated by residents' representatives from 2018 onwards, ultimately resulting in an arrangement that prioritises dignity and environmental stewardship.
